Breaking News: Joey Davino vs Devon Moore vs Al Snow for VWA Unified Title Headlines Fernwood May 25th
During what may have been the strangest press conference in recent memory, Pride Of Wrestling President Ritch Howe announced that, on May 25th at Fernwood Resort, Joey Davino would defend his prestigous Valley Wrestling Alliance Unified Heavyweight Championship against independant wrestling superstar Devon Moore, as well as bona-fide legend Al Snow in a Three-Way Dance. This will be, Howe explains, the one and only time Pride Of Wrestling will recognize the VWA Championship.
"It is extremely important that Pride Of Wrestling recognizes it's own champion" Howe said during the conference. "The sheer quality of the talent involved dictates so. The VWA is a great organization, and I look forward to working with them for a long time. It is necessary for us, however, to establish our own identity."
Devon Moore, a perennial challenger to Davino's title, was optimistic. "(Davino) has ducked and dodged me now for months...using his connections on the VWA board of directors to avoid facing me. Now, I got him at Fernwood. I got Al Snow in Fernwood, and most important....I got the VWA title..finally...in Fernwood. May 25th will be my day. Guaranteed."
Al Snow, who was with the press conference via satellite call, was direct in his statements regarding Pride Of Wrestling's inaugural event.
"Everyone expects me to arrive at Fernwood, teach these two rookies a lesson, and leave the VWA champion. And all I will say is this: No one will leave disappointed, especially not me."
The most telling reaction of all may have been VWA Champion Joey Davino, who sat in stone silence as the announcement was made. When pressed for comments, Davino would only reinterate "I work for VWA.....and NOT Pride Of Wrestling."
And I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't mention that Ritch Howe, president of Pride Of Wrestling, is a well-known VWA Board Of Directors member. His involvement in the decision making process is intering...to say the least.
More details on the press conference are forthcoming. Keep it here for more information.
